Stances (자세 · Ja Se)

Overview

Ja Se (자세) refers to posture or stance and is a fundamental component of Kuk Sool training.

Stances provide the structural foundation for movement, balance, power generation, and technique execution.


Context

In Kuk Sool, stances are used to:

  • establish stability and balance
  • support offensive and defensive techniques
  • develop proper body alignment
  • train transitions between movements

Stances are practiced both independently and within forms (Hyung).

준비 자세 (Joon Bi Ja Se)


자연 자세 (Ja Yun Ja Se)


전굴 자세 (Jun Gool Ja Se)

  • Meaning: Front stance
  • 전굴 + 자세

양굴 자세 (Yang Gool Ja Se)


기마 자세 (Ki Mah Ja Se)


후굴 자세 (Hoo Gool Ja Se)
